Default cannot communicate with computer

Hi Audiforums,
I'm new here so please try understand what I'm trying to say, thanks.
Well I have an 1998 Audi A6 Quattro and before I took it to the shop it would not go faster then 40mph and even with that it jercked the whole time, but that was fixed with a new throttle body, but now no shop can communicate with the car. I mean they could talk to some of the computer but not all. They could talk to the transmission, ABS and other but can't talk to the engine, ari bags and some other ones that I can't remember. So what do you guys think may be the problem. Today I payed $500 bucks to find out that the throttle body was broken and to replace it now I'm broke. So can someone please help me, thanks in advance.

A common problem with Audi is that the plenum drains get plugged with leaves, which causes the plenum to flood. This results in water entering the fresh air intake and going inside the car to were the electronic control box is located under the rug at the passenger's feet.
If you have the battery in the plenum, then one of the drains is located under the battery.
If you find that the plenum drains are pluged, then water may have shorted out the ECM.
