Car wash - Shifting out of neutral surprise
I just discovered that when you shift your car into neutral (for the car wash), you can't go back into drive without pressing on the brake. The rollers that push the car along in the car wash don't like that[:'(] I learned this the hard way when I couldn't figure out how to get into gear and the car behind me bumped me (new to me 2006 A6) leaving some nice little scratches.
All my other automatics let me shift into drive from neutral without brake action. This is one feature I could do without.
Comments about hand-washing my auto need not apply - I only do that when it's warm weather

RE: Car wash - Shifting out of neutral surprise
yeah, that sucks my friend. i had that same surprise the first time i took my a6 through the automatic wash. i just did what the above poster said, but did it very quickly, because i was afraid of getting hit from behind also. i'm sure there's a way to bypass that, but then it wouldn't work any of the time, which may or may not be what you want. sorry to hear about the bumper, definitely not much fun to get scratches on a new car.

Damn sucks to hear you got dinged from behind. I didn't find this as a big change as all the other cars I have owned were manual however my last automatic before this A6 was a 1990 Civic and you had to do the same thing.
