Default catlytic converter

1998 A6 AHA2.8L Quattro

both my catalytic converters appear to be rattling.

Any suggestions on finding direct fit replacements in Canada?

Does anyone know if the 98 A4 is the same fit? My mechanic has the A4 available in his
book but the A6 stops at 1995 for some reason.

How many miles are on your car? I had mine replaced by Audi for free because my car had under 75,000 miles. It's a government recall that makes them replace them for free. You probably have more than that but I thought I would give it a shot. Mine were rattling really bad and the performance was terrible. Sorry for not much help but good luck on the search!!

Your cats are out based on the 7 year time period here in the us. Not sure what federal laws apply to canadien models but its worth looking into. But dont get you hopes up as it probably wont be covered. As for wheter they are the same between the a4 and the 6, I think they are different part numbers but they may be close enough to "work".

Where would I find out about the government recall?

Probably not eligible - have a 2001 2.7T that I got in 2004 on e-bay with 68,000 miles. Now I have 125,000 +. Service Engine light has been on since December 2005. Dealer sent it off TWICE to get repaired and the car rejected it. Am not loaded so I do things as money comes along (probably wrong car to get huh?) but am wondering what, if anything, should be done. It's not blinking - I just don't want something else to be wrong and I wouldn't know because the light is on all the time.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure - I only get the invoice. The first drop off I got a VW Passat as a loaner. The 2nd time I had a 2.0T 2006 Audi. Had it for nearly a week. At least they took care of me there.

Williams Auto World in Lansing, MI. I'd like to think that just because I'm a woman I'm not being taken advantage of.

What, if I look on the invoice, should I look for in terms of codes?

I know Tuffy gets a bad reputation but I just went to one to inquire and they said there's the possibility of rejection too.

What am I to do?

Thanks again!
