check engine light and all other troubles
I have 1998 audi a6 in 145000 miles. The engine runs great. It was well kept and I know the previous owner.
Very bad thing happened other night is that I forgot to turn off the engine when I was getting gas. And I filled it up.After I am done fueling I recognized that the engine was on and the second I started Pulling out the engine check light came out then I recognized my lights , blinking signals, wiper controller, and AC are down.I went to the mechanic he said nothing wrong with the engine and he reset it from battery and engine light gone but still other problems remained. He sent me an electrician and the guy did not figure it out neither. They say we need to put it on computer.Any suggestions or idea what happened?Am I facing very big issue here. I admit that I am dumb to not turn engine off when I was getting gas, but audi should have taken this into account.
Thanks for your help already

RE: check engine light and all other troubles
I'm surprised that all of these issues could be caused by a fill up with the engine running. I can see a CEL being thrown for the engine running and a loose fuel filler cap, but electrical problems? I doubt it.
Your best bet is going to be a VAG-COM scan. Have a look at this link:

and see if you can find a VAG-COM owner close to you who is willing to check out your car.

RE: check engine light and all other troubles
Check the ignition switch. Start the engine and try to move the key back a little without turning off the engine. Everything should come back.
I have a 1998 a6 (140Kmi) and had the same problem. The ignition switch becomes stuck for some reason. See if this does the trick.
