i have a 2000 a6 4.2, with the same code, i think, my tech says its not a super vital code, the car will run fine on it if you can't replace it right away, it is the sensor above the right strut under a little black plastic cover. mine has been on for a little while i have still successfully raced my car very fast with no problems, hope that helps, cost is a couple of hundred last i asked, take care

I had that same code pop up when I was at the dealer after my CEL came on. They replaced all of the vacuum hoses becuase they were rotten. This is due to heat. It gets very hot in the engine bay. They replaced the lines and drove the car for a bit and no more faults have come up since. I too, never noticed a decrease in performance because of it. Its just the computer letting you know something is up. I've never heard of the sensor problem mentioned.

I would deffinitly check the vac lines. this is a pritty common issue as I inder stand. check both the rubber and plastic lines at the back of the motor while the car is running. if you are lucky you might be able to here a air leak while the system is on. this can be a hard thing to track down just takes some time.

but all in all it is not a issue that will effect the car.
