I think you should get both at once but if you have to go for one go for the tranny chip.

You're wasting your money. Chipping a 2.8 won't get you much performance. Better to put the coin into suspension or nice rims/tires. Do a search in this forum for more.

@PP - Doing the TIP chip is a good upgrade from what I've heard. But yea performance wise you won't touch the gains that a turbo'd car gets from a chip.

I'm tired of people saying it's not worth it, 99% of the time they have no experience with the n/a files.

Get the ecu flash, I think it is worth the coin! I got the flash along with the valet & kill programs + the flash loader... (done by GIAC themselves to test the new flash method)

All my normal passengers noticed the difference before I said anything about it. The car pulls more aggressively through out the whole range and you really get a kick in the top end. You can even tell it idles a little louder/more aggressive.

I'm actually going back for the tip chip next week, I don't have any experience w/ it yet however.

GIAC Tip SUCKSSSS!!! and you should always get a ecu chip before a TCU chip stone 825

a tcu chip doesnt give you any power it just decreases the gear searching inturn increasing shift time... far better gains can be had from an ecu flash

and giac tip file priced at 500 bucks is an absolute rip off ... go to vast performance for the tip file ... and ecu file while your at it maybe they will give u a deal

Would the GIAC ECU chip increase 0-60 time? my car currently does it in about 8.7-9.0 seconds

tip chip will increase your 0-60. i have a 2.7t but i'm pretty sure all the A6's are pretty notorious for transmission lag. if you get the tip chip, your transmission will shift much faster and you will get better throttle response and acceleration. the ecu chip is better for turbocharged engines.
