Clear panel protector on back wheel wells?
I have them aswell, mine are actually lighter then the color of the car. i believe they are put there by the factory to deter rotting from salt or sand or stuff hitting the paint. I know that sounds a little off beat but if you live where it snows heavily or they salt the road or de-ice them often, I recommend leaving them on, just for protective reasons. but who knows, factory might put them on as a selling point 'look protective cover = better lasting'
got'em too! like 4 Ring said, thanks alias for mentioning this... i was a little unsure to ask about it on the forum sincei thought they were put on by thedealer to cover something up. thanks for letting me cross another issue off my to do list.
my car is blue silver the trim is yellow! i'llstrip them off in the summer.
anyone have problems with residue?
I peeled mine off this summer. No problems with the paint. The car looks a lot better. I used a little gasoline on asoft rag to remove the residue, then washed it and waxed well. I just hope I don't get a lot of dings there from road debris.
got a silver a6, tore them off and havent noticed any damage to the car from rocks spittin up. Just heat them up and peel slowly, no real need to be worried about removing them.
krelley, is on the right track...just heat it up preferably a hair dryer not a heat gun, you don't want to disturb the clear. If you use a heat gun becareful, remember heat for a couple of seconds then remove, repeat.
Dealerputs it onthe A6s for protection, just like gravel guards. The only difference with ours is they peel off as opposed to the gravel guards which are stuck on, then painted over.
Good news! You can purchase a roll of it from any auto body supply warehouse, ask for "clear protective film" one size fits all. Trim, peel, andstick. I think 3m makes it.

Newbie here... I am so glad I found this forum, just got my A6 and was alittle worried about why it had these what looked to be stickers that were discolored. Now I know and will most likely remove the cause they are definitely an eye sore.
Thanks all
