Default Coil pack bad w/ no codes?

Is it possible for the coil pack to go bad and keep the car from starting and/or cause power loss, hesitation and no spark sporadically without throwing any codes?

Long story short, i've had random power loss, hesitation, car not starting problems without codes....car wouldn't start for 3-4 days, replaced my ebay coil pack with used oem one and it still didn't start but...i had it towed to a shop and it started right up for them???

now it has been ok for a week no problems yet.

originally thought it was fuel pump issues, i tested fuel volume that was fine, but i don't have the kit to test fuel pressure. already replaced the fuel filter so it's not that.

It could also be a bad wire to the coil which can be a PITA to track down. Still, I would have thought that would generate a code.
