The darintake ( drilling holes in bottom and cold side of airbox) is an extremely effective way to increase your potential air volume, I have logged this mod vs stock airbox, stock RS4 airbox and AWE S-flow. the DIY Darintake grabs the most air out of all of these options. Audi designed a great airbox and delivery system, the extra holes just allow for us to draw a little more

it worked for me. kind of confused in the end? is the air intake facing down? why not just use the air intake and lose the box?

It has something to do with the cone being directly connected with the MAF... The cone has troubles pulling... If you put your K&N filter in and cut a hole in the bottom of the intake you would be looking at just about the same gains. I just thought it was pretty cool how he used the cone to get extra pull inside the air box. I am going to try both ways for sure.
