Cold start issues
Hello,
Since the cold weather has arrived I have the following issue: every time I start the car with the engine cold, although it cranks normally, for the next 10-15 seconds it runs rough and unbalanced as if not all the cylinders would be working, and there's white smoke coming out of the exhaust. After these 10-15 seconds the engine starts operating normally and there will be no other issues until the next cold start.
The car is a 2003 A6 2.5 TDI quattro. All the spark plugs were recently changed, all pumps have been tested and found to be working normally. Oil and coolant levels are normal.
Any idea what could be causing this issue?
Thank you,
Cosmin

Just to be sure, do you have a check engine light on?
This could be an issue with your ECU trying to figure out the correct fuel / air ratio while the cats heat up. I suppose another thing you could give a try would be to disconnect your MAF and start the car and see what happens.
