So yesterday I was poking around in the engine bay of my 2000 audi a6 2.7t 6speed manual because earlier my check engine light was on (but now its not, i think it was just the gas cap), and I noticed that my combination valves on both sides of the engine were not connected to any tubing. Isn't this needed for the secondary air injection system work properly? If so, what tubing could I buy to use on it and where would I connect them too? thanks a ton for any help

Now I know what you are looking at....

What is not connected?

The big port on the valves should be connected to a plastic tube that goes back up near the Y-pipe and joins to a single tube that goes to the secondary air injection pump.

The small ports should be connected to simple rubber vacuum hoses (about six inches long), they go kind of down from the combi valve and join a stainless line that goes to the vac system near the N112 solenoid valve.

I'm surprised you aren't throwing a code.

The system just blows fresh (higher oxygen) air into the exhaust stream pre-cats to help oxidize emissions before the cats get up to operating temp.

Won't effect driving or engine operation at all.

 

oh ok well I dont have a code reader yet so it probably is. and also I have another question, my radio went into antitheft mode because i disconnected my battery cable, what would happen if i just disconnected the antitheft wire connecting to the radio? thanks again in advance
