Consdering A6, Just a couple ??
Hello all,
I have been looking for a car to cruise in as I have a tahoe now and I am wanting to get away from the gas hog!...I drive way too much and its costing me an average of $250 a month in gas alone After all its about $50 a tank...Anyway I was looking at the 2001 Audi A6 2.7TT auto...with about 47K on it and they are asking 23500...it has 18" and sprt package...it said gas mileage is about 18 city and 26hw....I also drove the 4.2 but I dont care for racing ..just driving without problems!..what would be more dependable?? .would this be a dependable car to make trips in and still get good gas mileage??..thanks!!

I find my A6 2.7T does well on the highway. In the city.. it can be a bit of a pig on gas, but then again.. i luv that off the line of power and tend to push it hard all the time in the city. Haven't had the car all that long, but it and general opinions are that its a very reliable car. From what I have read, things might go, but not without warning and even then, it will get you home.
In part, I would say that you also have to consider what you are buying. These aren't what I'd call intercity commuter cars, but if its long distance mileage on the open road, they are awesome machines. The ride is great, handling superb.. throw in the all wheel drive and even snowy, icy roads are a no big deal. As well, they have nice space in the rear for others, luggage... kids... (LOL I was curious.. I layed down the rear seats and I can even lay down back there.. and I am 6'4" )
Gas mileage.. well i am willing to sacrafice some for a great ride and handling as well as the quattro. I used to drive a Mercedes 190E... smaller car, great car, but on the open road, the Audi is nicer to drive.
