So, you are leaking coolant some where, you get the low coolant warning & it's overheating?

You have a problem! My guess is that you still have low coolant, & an air bubble in the system. There is a bleed screw on the right hid side by the throttle body, about 3in in the engine. I would find out where the coolant is going. Hopefully it's just a simple leak (afterrun pump) & not going into the turbo's.

What did you use to refill the system?

I'm having a hard time locating the bleed screw. Anybody has a picture for it? Mine is a 99 A6 2.8L.

About that much. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT CAR YOU HAVE! Why not ask the shop that diagnosed the problem?

on the 2.8 it's located near the right timing belt cover I think. It's black metal tube with allen bolt in it.
Personally myself I've never used bleeding screw. All you have to do is fill the car up untill it wount take more. then run at idle until engine warms up then let it cool down and check to see if you can add some more fluid in there. Never had any problems with overheating.
Bleeding is fine, but I don't like antifreeze dripping all over the engine, especially after I hyst cleaned it during t belt replacement.

If they aredoing all the work make sure they replace the Tstat and all the tensioners/idlers. Better now, than have to re do the stuff. I did a coolant sender as well, just to be safe.
