Unhappy Crash... Bang... No insurance !!!

Long post.

I came back to my car on Friday to find that it was hit pretty badly. To make a long story short, the person who hit my car didn't have insurance, and my insurance won't cover it. The person has so far given something towards fixing it. Hopefully he will do good and pay for fixing the rest.

Based on the pictures, how bad does it look? I know I probably need a new rear bumper, some support brakets, new light and a whole lot of body work.

What you can't see clearly in the pictures is that the rear quarter is now out of place. The boot lid is almost touching the body on the right. The rear passenger (right) door is now touching the rear quarter.

The front driver's door is touching the front left quarter.... :'(

So any quesses on how much it will cost to fix?

What things should I look for when they 'claim' they fixed it? I know I will be looking the gaps around my doors and the panels being level. Anything else?

call the cops if you have not done already, then fill a small claims court case and hope that you can get it fixed for less than your states max limit. My guess is maybe 4-5k if you have a good quality shop, probably 3k with shitty work.

OUCH ! Doesn't look good, or cheap to fix, as Jeffla says. To get it done properly, at least $4 grand or better.

I'm off today to order parts. They will have to come from Germany. 3 weeks normally, but who knows how long with Christmas and the New Year... Police were involved from the start, so hopefully it will all get resolved.

You have a bent frame and a totalled car. Get a lawyer.

Why won't your insurance cover it under "uninsured motorist"?
