Discoverd an intresting feature on my 96 A6.
I just realized that When I unlock the car twice with my remote on my 96 A6 it will move the drivers seat to the first set memory position. I never realized this before because I never moved the seat around from its setting but today when I moved it around I realized it moves back when I open the door.
What else is supposed to move, I would amagine the mirrors to but mine dont work for some reason. So thats what I found what has everyone else found.

If it's like the C5s, you can actually "link" the remote to a seat memory setting so that it will happen with a single click. I forget exactly how, but a check of the manual and/or a search here should find something on this.
You may also want to do a search on recoding the central locking console with a VAG COM -- there's all sorts of fun things you can do (e.g., holding down "unlock" button rolls down all windows -- GREAT on a hot, sunny day). Check my signature/registing for a link on this.

For my 1998 A6 it has memory associated with each key fob. It adjusts the seat and mirrors. If I put the key in the lock and hold it the windows will roll down.
Also if you get out of the car and realize a window is open if you lock the car with the key, turn it and hold it then windows, they roll up.
Try turning the mirror adjustment **** to the passenger side. When you put the car in reverse the mirror moves down so you can see the curb while parallel parking.
rock on
