Default RE: Display accuracy - fuel consumption

i hav a question regarding this too, i recently filled my car up to full after having it more than a year already and it filled up till the fuel came out by the fuel cap, but my gauge only registerd 3 quater and it was approx 85 litres it took, which shud be right coz it has a 80L tank. thing is as soon as you start covering distance the needle starts to drop from 3 quater , does this mean when my needle shows on reserve that i still have approx 20L left, though the computer shows me 50 km to go...??????

Remember -
1. The computergives you an estimate based on your current driving style.
2. Gas gages are notaccurate.

When I fill the tank onmy97 Avant Q the gage shows full, but it drops to 3/4 within25 miles. It then takes another 350 miles to get to 1/4 full and I start looking for a gas station because I haven't a clue as to where it really runs out of gas. (Running out of gas is a pain in the butt.)

The gage on my200QT was linear and when the red light came on I knew I could go at least25 miles before running out. The computer would start warning mewhen it thought 50 miles were left and my wife would make sure that I knew I would be in trouble if we ran out of gas.
