Default display quits working all of a sudden?

The display on the dash cluster that displays the temp, radio station, miles to empty, etc quit working suddenly yesterday. It worked on my way to work but when I went home all I get is a black screen.

Anyone else ever had that happen? What did you do to fix?

Did you try the reset button on the bottom side of the windshield washer stalk? We have to ask.

Thanks for asking. I didn't know there was a reset button...bought the car used and there's no owner's manual. The reset button is on the bottom of the washer stalk, do I need anything special to get to it?

No no no. It's a big button that you push in once to turn on/off the display at your whim and hold to reset the average mpg/speed and time.

Furthermore - if you didn't know - that lever/switch at the end of the wiper stalk cycles through instant mpg, average mpg, average speed, miles to empty, and driving time (<- which is stupid).

You can sort of see it here:

I had figured out what that button did, but I don't think I've ever even noticed the one under the stalk. thanks!
