Does anyone have an idea of what it may cost to import a TDi motor from the UK

The importing isn't what's going to kill you...the installation will. You will pretty much have to change everything. I helped a buddy a while back convert his gas powered truck to diesel. All said and done, he paid way more than he would have if he traded it in for a brand new truck. It would probably be cheaper to import a TDI equipped car.

I wondered that too. Is there a way to import a TDI to Canada, but have the left side driver config? I assume so cause they exist in Europe. But always curious what the ball park figure is....

Importing a car can be rather difficult due to emissions standards. Ive only seen one diesel in the states and it still had the german tags. Getting left hand drive wouldnt be hard to get. They do drive on the right side of the road in germany. It may not be that hard to swap in a diesel. You could find one originally designed to fit in your subframe. Or just get one with the entire subframe.
