My 2002 A6 avant has a faulty driver side door latch - I think, anyway. The light does not come on when that door is opened, and the remote will not lock the door. I can lock it with the key, however.
Does anyone know a good source for the door latch?
How hard is it to replace? Is it a DIY, or are there special tools needed?

I replaced mine a few years back. It takes maybe 1-2 hours, and is pretty easy, just tedious. I got mine from either Skokan or Force 5, can't remember. No special tools needed, it helps to not have monstrous hands.
