i have a 98 a6 and the driver display unit has gone bad with lines the whole way across and the whole way through, i was wondering if there was some sort of an easy fix for it like reseting the display of something of i just would need a whole new unit

You can get it repaired. Have to send the instrument cluster in, and you can't drive the car:

There are other companies that offer repairs.
