Hello everyone,

I have a 2005 audi a6 3.2 that i recently purchased. it has the bose surround sound system in it. in the 'sound' menu it has another submenu named 'DSP Bose' which in you can change the sound selection from normal, surround front, surround back, etc. I put it on surround front and it always automatically changes it back to normal for some reason. i cant figure out why its doing that. any ideas? thanks!

 

There is a TSB issued for the problem. The MMI software needs to be updated. My 05 4.2 came with MMI software version 10.3 and the upgraded software in my car is up to 33.4. I understand that Audi is curretly up to 34.1. My guess is that the original owner of your car did not keep current on the software upgrades. You may want to check with the dealer and see if the original owner kept up with the other maintenance.

 

well the car was from california, and ilive in oregon, so i dont think the dealer here would have any information on service for the car. would they install the updates for free? or would they charge me?

 

I believe the dealers are connected via the same computer system and you can get the information. I had the MMi update done under warranty, I don't know the cost for doing it outside of warranty.
