Default Emmisions probelms

Hey all,

Looking for a little in advice, recently took my car for emissions in Colorado and it failed. My HC GPM reading 4.4898 and the limit is 1.2 and my NOx GPM 2.9938 and the limit is 1.5. Really don't know where to go from here, or what could be causing it so any advice on what the problem is and how to fix it would be much appreciated.

Willkommen to the forums!

it helps to know what year and engine your car has, in order to answer you questions more effectively.

your first step should be getting it scanned for codes. based on the readings you posted, I would suspect that you CEL should be on (but the wouldn't have tested your car if it was). How new to you is this car? Have any modifications been done?

good luck

These are just possibilities, engine misfiring, cat failed. Either case should bring up the CEL, unless somone molested the ECM.
