Default engin oil question

I changed engin oil last week in a small mechanic shop. They told me they put some kind of good oil (I cannot remember brand), but not synthenic oil. I am wondering whether it will harm the engin of my A6? Do I need go to somewhere else to change the oil to Synthetic oil immediately?

Thanks!

We might be able better to help if you provide:

Car model, year, mileage.
Mods
Region you leave (climate)
Your driving habits an annual mileage driven.
Price of the oil change (with filter, make of the filter).

There would be hardly an immediate rush, but…

you should have picked the oil before they did what they wanted, they probably used whatever cost less for them.

My car is 99 Audi A6 Quattro, it has 87k miles on it. The mechanic is kind of familiar with me (at least I think). They charged me about $48 for the oil change and air filter put in (I bought the air filter myself).

Since I am kind of trust them and forget to remind them to put synthetic oil in the engine, I am a little worried about my car. Hope it won't do anything too bad on my car.

Thanks

$48.00 does NOT buy you a synthetic oil change with oil filter and labor for an air filter, so for sure you have dino oil in your engine.
Dino oil is fine... you just have to change it more often.

synthetic is always best. castrol syntec, mobil 1, amsol, any synth that meets the vw requirements. it will state it on the back of the bottle.
mann or wix filters.
