hey guys, I'm a new poster and I think my problem is too specific for the search algorithms to find on the A6 board, so if this is a repost I apologize ahead of time.

I have a A6 Avant I'm borrowing from my dad at the moment, and while I'm taking care of it I'm taking the liberty of maintaining it. I have no history of its maintenance except that my dad drives REALLY carefully. Only known problems with it currently are a very tiny oil leak (I can smell the burnoff from the engine bay) that doesn't have a visible effect on the oil level. The scheduled oil change is about 2000mi away and it could maybe use a rotation and balance. Other than that I don't know.

Anyway my problem is a shuddering sound from the engine that doesn't seem to have a specific trigger. when I come to a stop, most of the time the sound dies off and I have a normal idle sound again. A buddy riding with me said it sounded like a flooded valve, but I was hoping someone on here has knowledge of this problem and could share it with me or direct me to the proper post.

Sounds a little like the issue I'm having right now as well, havent gotten too much feedback from it. My rpms seem to slightly fluctuate slowing down and upon stop they drop for a half a second like it almost wants to stall then it quickly catches itself. Today my car actually stalled when i stopped quickly.

The feedback I received was to change the transmission fluid and filter. Hope you get some good info here.

 

Maybe a fuel problem?

Try a few cans of fuel injector cleaner and see what happens. (not all at the same time - You know a can during each tank full.)
