FOG LAMPS & More
Hey I was wondering how i could turn on my fog lamps for the 2001 Audi A6 and also what the two switches on the inside driver's side door sill are. When you open the door, there are two buttons, one with a car that has a beam like this ))). Also, if anyone could help me carfax another audi i am about to buy, id appreciate it. You could PM me or email me at Digicool1@aol.com. Thanks in advance

Dela,
Fog lamps are turned on by pulling the light switch toward you. One pull turns on the front; two pulls turn on the rear. There's even a great little mod out there (info here) that lets you turn them on without the headlights being on at the same time. Many people do this to have daytime running lights that reduce wear on the expensive Xenons.
The two buttons on the driver's B pillar are the remove trunk release and the motion sensor deactivation. The former is self-explanatory. The latter deactivates the interior motion sensor for the alarm system. Useful if you want to set the alarm on your car with a dog inside/windows open.
I'd back off on the request to get somebody else to do a carfax for you. Not legal and likely to get your post deleted by the forum moderator.

One word of caution about the fog lamp rewire "mod" is to make sure that you inspect the wires every now and then. If you run the fogs for an extended period of time, the wire can get VERY hot and burn out, even melting the plastic near the wire before blowing a fuse. I removed mine from the 4.2, but it worked very well in my 2.7T.
Oh, and in case you have not yet found it, look for your owners manual under the steering column. There is a handy little slot there for the manual booklet.
