Why would the brake hoses cause oil to be all over the bottom of the motor?? The hoses go between the calipers and the solid brake lines in the wheel wells. If your brake lines are leaking badly enough to cover the motor with oil -park the damn thing until you get it fixed. Just measure the lenth of the lines needing replacement and get them from an auto supply house. Just make sure they have the correct fittings on the end.

PS They will be straight so you'll have to bend them to match the ones you take off. Then you'll need to bleed all the air out of the lines before you will be able to stop.

Brake hose did not have anything to do with oil leak. While doing the inspection they found that my brake hoses r broken a little bit. Quoted me $219 for it.

Was wondering if i can just easily replaca those myself. 219 for that is that sound right?

If it's $ 219 for parts and labor, go for it. It's easy to strip the nut at the calipher end and properly bleeding the brakes isn't easy. Definitely not as easy as changing pads or the rotors.

Seems high to me. I just bought a brand new one for my 00 A6 Avant from a local parts store for around 12$. its just a normal brake hose nothing fancy about it... an easy DIY IMO.

yeah i guess only thing i am worring is bleeding the brakes and do i have to take off control arm to get there? forgot 2 mention on the top of 200 for exchanging brake hoses i have to add $79 for brake flush so $279 for that.

Plus $200 for upper arm control = $479 which seems really high for me part r really cheap. Sounds like they r even more expensive then a dealer.

I found original brake hose eq from german auto parts for $24 each

Plus my uppper arm control is loose found one there for $76 they quoted me $219

I show that List price for a new OEM (from Audi) hose is $31.72. Audi part # 8D0 611 707 D (same right and left)

It "pays" 6/10ths of an hourto install new brakehose AND bleed brakes...so if your shops hourly rate is $80 per hour. take $80 x .6 = $48 bucks labor...at least that's the way I'm seeing it.

I was thinking with replacing them with stainless steel from ecs website $59 for set of 2

Now bleeding brakes what i found seems kind of cool http://germanautoparts.com/tools/Audi/Brake%20tools#3 brake bleeder for audi did somebody every try this.

so if get this bleeder + hoses it will cost me 110 maybe saving already on this $180. Plus if i ever have to do rear ones i already have tools to do it.

Only thing i need is some kind of DIY step by step thing.
