Default Front Bumper Bolt Size

So my "new to me" A6 has a tear in the front bumper where it connects to the plastic skid plate underneath at the front. I'm guesing that the previous owner got it hung up while parking and it grabbed backing out. No big deal, but if left unfixed I could see it tearing further into the the grill area.

Does anyone know what the bolt size is that fits into the metal brackets placed on the plastic skid plate? My thought is to replace the missing bolts/brackets sets with a larger black washer to hold everything in place.

Unless someone crawls under the car like I tend to, it'll never be noticed.

IIRC, it's a 5 mm sheet metal screw. Since it is a sheet metal screw, a 1/4" screw will probably fit. You'll probably want to add a few extras to hold up the torn area.

Or, you can rivet pieces of sheet aluminum behind the tear area to hold it in place.

Good luck,

Bob
