Front end vibration
I doubt it is the rotors, unless you are depressing the brakes. I get a pulse on mine because I think they are very slightly warped.
Before you start replacing parts, I'd make sure the wheels are truly balanced. Check through the Forum for Stoney's Links and find someone who has the wheel balancing equipment referenced.
I would suspect tie rods and other steering or suspension problems would show symptoms of a "pull" to one side or the other rather than a vibration.
Good luck. Let us know what you find out.

Hi, I have a 2000 A6 as well and I have the exact same problem with the vibration at 65 to 80 mph.
Did you find a solution yet?
What solutions have you tried?
Curious

Everytime I get the wobble on my 02 2.7t, it ends up being the tires. Tires only last about 20-30 thousand if your lucky. I have balanced till I was blue in the face to no avail. Now I come to expect changing the tires anytime after 20thousand on a set, if I get ill handling or imbalance. Fixes it every time. Make sure to do a road force balancetoo. Not the standard balance at the local shop.
Info on the road force balance please?
My winter tires started the vibration after about 4K miles. Rebalancing cured for maybe 100 miles, then came back. Crazy. When I take wheels off car after that 100 miles or so, and check the balance, they are out of balance an ounce or so....? I'm buying new winters soon, we'll see if they make it through the season. Crazy to waste $500 a year on tires.

Hi, I already rotated the tires and the problem got a little worse. After reading the various post this 65 to 80 mph front end vibration thing seems to be a common problem, I would think someone found the solution. I've heard it can be tie rods, warped drums, bearing, abs malfunction, tires, bent rims, etc.
A common problem normally has a common solution, what could it be my fellow A6 owners.
We all should not have to do the process of elimination thing.
