Get a europlate.
There only $28 on ebay.
Complements the look of the front end, insted of ruining it like U.S. plates.

Just my 2 cents.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if your state requires a front plate, a Europlate isn't going to qualify even if the number matches.

Sorry can't correct you. You are right. But if your numbers match...cops will give you less hard time, or thats what I hear

My uncle is ex-CHP.

I asked him about needing a front plate after I got pulled over in my sister's VW for the same thing. (no front plate).

Unkle told me the only reason cops hassle you about it is because back in the day car's were flat and box-ie.
No problem for radar and lasers.

Now a days cars (like audi's) are slick and rounded.

Basicly cops need something flat to shoot the radar/laser @. Hence the push for front licences plates.

I've had my europlate on for months. Had plenty of cops at red lights check it out and not one has ever pulled me over.

There happy/were happy.

But no. It's not legal in anyway.

Wow, MiniSpdRcr and teranenrique, thanks for the offers! And as good fortune would have it, my car is black, so either would work fine from a color standpoint. But, I don't know what model year your vehiclesare --mine is a 2004 2.7t. Does this create a mis-match with either of you? Also, do youhave the mounting screws/hardware, and are they in 'like-new' condition?

Finally, I assume this would be a simple installation. . . but any advice would be appreciated.

I really hate to put this thing on,but the wife is nervous about it.

I have a 2003 3.0l Quattro, I dont think there will be any incompatibility issues...I mean id think its pretty standanrd on all models. Anyways as far as mounting, the "designated" area is empty behind, you can just mark the position the screws would be in, drill little holes, then just mount the thing, at least thats how it looks like it was mounted in my car lol.

And what praytell do you think they used before radar? Originally they clocked cars via stopwatch and/or speedometer of the police car....neither of which cared what shape the car was.

Just so you know.....Mythbusters busted that one. It really doesn't matter what shape the car is nor does it matter that license plates are reflective. It is a myth.

If you haven't had any problems then I wouldn't change it, but for those thinking about it there is always the chance they will catch some heat for it. Just be warned and keep your "real" plate handy just in case.

Actually it does. Not with the being able to get your speed or not, but how fast the Radar locks to your speed, basically anything reflective will make radar guns lock in faster. And there is actually "sprays" or "Gel coats" that you can apply to make your car eat some of the radar's signal thus increasing the amount of TIME it will take to get your speed, but indeed like Costner said, sooner or later it WILL get it haha. Your best bet against radars are ACTIVE radar blockers. Passives is like being 1 too many steps behind the cop. But for now lets stay on topic with the license place...
