Default Front wheel bearing replacement

I have a 1995 A6 quattro with the 2.8 liter V6 and I want to replace the front wheel bearings, are these pressed in and out with a hydraulic press or are they just a press fit by hand (hamer)?

Real press, but in a pinch, a hammer will work. Use a block of wood to soften the blows.

I did both of them in my 1995 and a press was definitely needed. Maybe if the car was only years old a hammer would work but that bearing has been in there 15 years. I used a friends 20 ton press and even then we had to heat the housing.

i have a 95 Audi 90 and did this .. forget the ' on the car" tools .. they are useless . asmentioned I actually bough a press for this as it still worked out cheaper but they were a nightmare to get in and out
I borromed a hub shark kit form the tool store to use as tools for the press but it was a tough process.

Keep in mind if the hub comes off the car you will probably need an alignment when your done.

The one time I did front wheel bearings, I also needed a press. I removed the hubs from the car myself, and dropped them off at a shop to be pressed out and in.
