Default Headlight Switch bulb flickering

I recently noticed that the bulb inside the headlight on/off switch seems to be flickering occasionally and sometimes of out completely. I'm not sure if this is a symptom of a greater issue or if the bulb inside the switch just needs to be replaced? I have included a pic below that points out the area that is should be illuminated.

Any help is appreciated!

Well if you don't notice anything but the light blinking (actual headlights still work fine) then it's probably just the LED inside the housing. If you're a good tinkerer you could take it apart and probably solder back on. If you're not the DIY-er type, then....buy a new unit.

Default Fix

The people Audi has soldering these should be fired. The fix is to take it apart, resolder all the bad joints, and put it back together.

1. With the light switch off, push hard in while rotating clockwise. The switch will pop out.
2. There are spring loaded clips which allow step 1 to happen. Then there are smaller plastic clips (4x in my 2002 Audi A6). Pop the smaller clips with a small flat head screwdriver. That should allow you to take the switch apart. You'll have to rotate the switch while pulling it apart.
3. Pop off the LED pc board using the flat blade screw driver.
4. Inspect ALL the solder joints. I had two bad joints.
5. Solder the joints
6. Reassemble ensuring the LED pc board contacts are tight.

Here are my bad joints:

Here's the switch taken apart:

Thanks for the reply and pictures!

I think this might be the reason I have been needing to buy a solder gun again!

Default UPDATE: LED bad, too!

In addition to the two bad solder joints I had a bad LED as well (upper left as you look at the pc board. Radioshack has almost exact replacements for these LEDs: 3mm low intensity red LED 2-pack, item # 276-0026 ($2).
