Help....A6 2.7t boosting problems
Well a few more days have passed and today did not go all too well. On my way home from work my car was really lagging, I could barley make it up the on ramp. The flashing CEL came on but didnt go away like usual it is now on solid. I think this is an injector issue, my car idels smooth as silk and runs like a swiss watch, untill the engine is under a decent amount of load, then it bogs out when I give it gas. So im going with injector issue but I wont know for sure untill I get the codes from it, im not too good with audis yet so im thinking of taking it in to a dealer but I fear ill be putting parts into it I dont really need. And my turn signals are still working fine, that must have just been a one time fluke. I will update this when I figure out whats wrong with my car to inform others who could be in this situation in the future.
Ok, so, I am fucked, I think....I had the codes checked showing missfires on cylinders 1,3,5; which would make the ICM issue sound like the problem. I had the car at my dads shop(they work on heavy equiptment not cars) and had them look at it (they took it to some automotive place to get the codes checked). After the codes were checked I went to pick it back up and see how it drove over the weekend. I went to start it and it ran for about a second and then died and refused to turn over. I left the car at my dads shop and so they could figure it out monday. Problem is I work all day so I rarley have time to explain the issue and explain all the things that could be this problem. On monday one of the guys tried to start it and again it wouldnt go. He then hit my fuel tank with a hammer (idiot, this is an Audi not a GM pickup) and apperently it then fired up and ran fine. He thinks this is now a fuel pump issue, this makes somewhat sense on why my car was bogging out. He took it back to the automotive shop (not a VW or Audi dealer) and they did the samething with hitting the tank and they also think its the fuel pump($1000). They also told me I need new exhaust sensores ($1800), to which I say bullshit, for that price I could by a new exhaust. So anyways, I do think it could be the pump but that still doesent explain why it missfired on cylinders 1, 3, and 5, I keep telling them to switch the ICMs and check the code again beacuse Id like to make sure thats not the problem. But they keep insisting its the damn pump. How do I make sure its the fuel pump? And also does it really make sense for the fuel pump to be the issue? I told them to clean the filter and the didnt think that would be the issue, I need someone who knows VW/Audis, If they would have listened to me and taken it to the VW dealership insted of this automotive place Id be alot happier, but appently I know jack about my own car.
Looks like is a fuel pump , that happened to mine n I replaced it myself not big deal. Buy it n go under the rear seat replace it n u good. There should b a link on how to
$1000 sounds crazy to me, got my pump for like $200 or less

Ok so at this point im annoyed to say the least. They replaced the fuel pump beacuse apparently it was bad, but when I picked up my car it started to do the same thing it was doing before. So today they looked at it again, they used their vag-com to read the code beacuse I was able to make it pop up again. The code again showed missfires on 3 cylinders. At this point I told them a million times TO CHECK THE DAMN ICMS and Im still sure thats the main problem. However there are alot of other codes showing up on the vag-com too, exaust codes and wastegate codes and such. They put the scanner in the car when they drove it and they said sometimes it was missfiring everywhere and they also said I had high boost psi at low rpms and low boost psi at higher rpms. I still think its an electrical problem and they do too. I keep telling them it could be the ICMs and one simple check would prove it, but they for whatever reason want to make sure they know what the real problem is insted of going off what I said. They said they were in contact with audi now and hopefully will figure something out monday. If not im having it brought to an audi dealer which is where I said it should have gone in the first place. I would do this my self but I work 7am-6pm every day and sundays are my only day off. Good thing I work for my dad so I have a company veichle for a while, but the down side is I can never be there and im always talking to the mechanics over the phone. School starts for me in a few weeks and I NEED my car for that. For many reasons I am still convinced its the ICM or CPU, could anyone tell me anything else that would be causing all these codes to go off?
final update(I hope), I metiioned to them about my problem being the thing that controls the wastegate (n75 valve) and thats what it turned out to be. Also my throttle body boot was leaking boost. I had them replcae the valve and boot and now my car runs better than ever, holy ******* **** is it fast now. Im glad I resolved this issue, if anyone else encounters similar problems with engine sputtering and missfires this could be your problem, depending on the codes you pull from your vag-com of course. Im just happy to finally having my a6 back on the road.
