Help with naming peice from coolant part
well last year i had broken the piece when i was taking out my spark plugs, my hand slipped breaking the plastic peice connecting the antifreeze hose connector with the engine ect ect. so i was lazy and bought a piece from my local auto store (THE WHITE PIECE SHOWN) which i knew didn'T work but at the time (winter) everything was fine seeing it was cold out but now that its hot out i notice that the anitfreeze did not go down one bit from last year and the car recently is getting so so hot under the hood the its melting some plastic parts!! i know its normal for it to get hot but not this HOTT!! so i need help finding the NAME OF THIS PART so i can officially order a legit one from an audi dealer or online..heres a pic of the peice im talking about if anyone knows the name the would be great.. thanks!
It's called a T splice, but just go to Audi and The parts guy will pull up a screen you can pick it out. First though take it out and see if it is blocked in some way. It may not be your problem. If your getting that hot your engine light should have come on. I would look into the Waterpump, thermostat, cooling fans and radiator for an over heating problem.

I wanted to post earlier today pretty much the same thing as what Jackmup said, but I didn't want you to take it the wrong way.
What makes you think that the T-connector you put in is not as "legit" as one sold by the Audi dealer?
Is just a hollow plastic piece and the likelihood of been clogged is minutely slim unless you had crappy coolant in the car and it accumulated deposits of crud, or the coolant carried a piece of rusted metal from the heater core that lodged in there.
You said you "knew" from the beginning that "didn't work" (or "will not work" - in the context). It can't be much smaller (diameter wise) than the "legit" OEM one to suspect a decreased coolant flow; otherwise the hoses wouldn't have fitted properly tight on it.
I think Jackmup has a point regarding a totally different problem you may have (T-stat, water pump, or clogged radiator). Indeed, take it out and clean it if it's clogged.
If you didn't lose any coolant over a year, it means you have no leaks whatsoever. That's good, but then maybe your pump is not up to par anymore - it doesn't move the coolant anymore.
By the way, there's your piece: $ 6.74 (Part number: 90693001)
