Here's a Interesting one.. Door Sensor.
My 03 A6 Avant's driver rear sensor has been coming on and off while driven.. Of course this is a pain at night since the lights trigger. I happen to adjust my lumbar in the seat all the way down and BINGO, problem gone. I adjust it back up and the problem re-appears. Seems to be a short in the seat that is agitated when getting pressure from the lumbar... Anyone every experienced or heard of this one?

Disconnect your drivers rear door footwell light. It is the light that is under the butt of the driver and lights up the floor for the rear drivers side passenger. Your problem will go away. Well it should.
Look for the harness under the front of your drivers seat and disconnect the black plug. See pic. It's the top black plug in the picture.

Your problem should be solved, and the only downside is that butt light doesn't work anymore. I'm sure you could find the short, but I could care less about that light.

Thanks for the replies.. I'll give those options a try... and Yes, the lumbar support in the bottom of the seat for lower back support...when it is adjusted fully for more back support is when it triggers the rear driver door sensor... ugh - just had a coil go out yesterday too! Easy fix at least!
