Hey guys, getting 00 A6 quattro
^^^ OK - Sorry for the misplaced humor.
Anyway, maybe you should have your parents give you a little education about budgeting...
What about..........
gas?
food (the fast type)?
movies?
CD's / DVD's?
girls?
saving for college?
clothes?
savings?
'Senior' HS expenses (prom, grad week expenses, etc)
Before you step over the line on this one, put ALL your probable expenses down on paper. inflate the total by 15% for unforseen events, then see if you will have enough $$ to pay for the Audi.
You probably don't need to do this if you're buying Japanese or American, but you DO need to do this if you're trying for the Audi.

The 2.7T is a twin turbocharged car. it has more power then the 2.8l engine. It doesent seem like you will be willing to shell out money for this car though (repairs/gas) maybe think about a Subaru or something i believe the service is pretty low.
I bought a 2003 A6 2.7T 6MT with 34K miles in March 2005 without really knowing what I was getting into either. But the prior owner was a fanatic about maintaining it and it has turned out to be pretty reliable. It now has 84K miles, so that's 50K of driving in less than two years. What I discovered...
1) It only gets around 18mpg city and 22-24 highway - everyone recommends premium so be prepared to pay a lot to fill up the tank. I tried premium and could not tell the difference, so switched back to midrange.
2) I had to replace a brake sensor and a rear transmission seal under the 50K warranty. I'm suspicious about the seal since I did not see any leaking on my garage floor. I also had a coolant leak from the rear of the block which I fixed with some radiator sealant (b00 hiss - but it saved me $1000 teardown). So it is relatively reliable.
3) I change oil every 8K miles. Count on 7 quarts of Mobil1 at $50 plus filter and labor (my local guy does it for $10 since I do all my other work there now). I'm sure you can change it yourself - I did when I was your age.
4) I had to replace the original 17" Pirellis this year for $600 and the summer after I got it, the 18" summer tires (replaced with Cooper Zeons for $650). The original owner did some light towing and they must have worn faster. The Coopers now have 20K miles and are only down 2/32.
5) Need for speed. After reading this forum, I got sucked into a GIAC chip which meant new diverters and a TBB. Ended up costing around a grand. Totally unnecessary but fun.
6) I'm planning on a grand to replace the timing belt and all the ancillary pieces next summer.
7) Eyeballing performance shocks, clutch, etc. Figure I could easily put $4-5K more into the car but my wife would kill me. So I keep bouncing the corners and hoping I can at least justify the shocks and progressive springs.
I love the car, and plan to keep it well past 200K. Except for BMW which are just as pricey, and rarely AWD, where can you get a luxury sports touring motorcar with a 6-speed?
My best advise is to find a garage that specializes in Audi that you can trust, and take it to them for a thorough check.

Make a budget is the best advice this thread is going to give you Fallout. You can paint the thing hot pink with purple polka dots and drive it wearing a clown suit. Whatever makes you s*** your pants. But, take it from myself and others who invest their time efforts and passion into these cars. They ARE NOT cheap. I commend you for making the effort with work and such and trying to figure out how to afford it. Thats a good step. But don't put yourself out over a car that is going to sit on the side of the house with no girls/soundsystems/tires-wheels/chips/suspension MODS or anything else you might be dreaming up because you cant afford the maintenance. Withoutproper maintenance, all of the rest of that stuff I mentioned will never happen because your caris dead on the side of the house. The $$ you make is NOT enough to maintain the car much less MOD it. Drive around in your buddies cool cars and let themwreck their rides. Save your $$ and wait a bit and then buy one. You might not understandthis and say "I want , I want, and f*** it, but you will thank me later when your a little older for this advice. BTW--This aplies to houses, boats, wifes etc. THINK IT THROUGH.Just wait a year or two. Take your brothers advice....Good luck man!!
