Noob here. Have been an observer for some time and picked up a lot of advice so finally took the plunge to join and ask for some more.

I Understand this kind of question may have been asked quite a lot but hopefully somebody can shed me some light on the issue.

I'm currently in the market to buy an A6 either an 07-09 depending on price/spec etc. Long story short, had a new baby, need a bigger car, A6 ticks a lot of boxes.

I've seen two cars recently which look spotless, almost showroom condition. One is an 07 plate 3.0 TDI LE MANS with all the trimmings but has 143,000 miles on the clock, apparently all motorway and is listed at £7991

The other is an 09 plate 3.0 TDI LE MANS, all the trimmings with 92,000 miles on the clock, apparently all motorway also, listed at £13,950

Based on the above two examples what kind of issues am I likely to find/have with a car of that high a mileage? I'll be looking for a car in that territory to keep the cost down. £14k is probably the absolute most i'm willing to spend, i.e if I was to spend the upper ceiling of my budget i'd be putting about 3-4k down as cash and financing the rest, however if I was to make a purchase less than £10k i'd finance that and keep hold of the savings incase anything rears it's ugly head.

I've been reading that if the gearbox goes on these it can run into eye watering territory but i'm not too sure how common that is and whether it's likely on a high mileage motorway car....

Any advice on a high mileage issues, likely repair bills or any advice in general would be very much appreciated.
