Default Tips/Advice on a 99 A4. High mileage :-(

Im looking into getting a 99 A4. It's the Quattro, turbo 4cyl.

The bad, is the car has 190k miles.

Are these motors decent if maintained correctly? Timing belt has been changed, but I believe once. So My next thing would be changing the timing belt/water pump since I've read on how sensitive they are.

Should I look for anything in particular? Runs and drives flawless. Shifts fine, etc. But 190k is the downfall.

I've also been thinking of doing small stuff to it. Possibly a K04, BOV, and front mount.

Should this be worth it, or just leave it as is?

Well 190k is quite a bit but.....If it drives flawless and shifts fine then there is nothing wrong with getting a high mileage car. Do a carfax and call dealers with the vin and get work orders faxed to you if they are nice .
First most important thing like you stated get that damn timing belt changed and buy the kit. Water pump thermostat the whole 9. I would say check out the turbo but if you plan on replacing it then....Also inspect the underside of the car with great detail. Check out the front suspension and control arms. A4s love em. Also listen for any noise in the wheel rotation. Any noise and its a good chance your bearings are on the way out. Rear Diff area and also driveshaft. Seals. Take a look. Make sure they are not leaking. Check stuff yourself or pay $20 to $40 bucks and have it inspected from top to bottom. If some things could possibly crop up and you can budget the money then buy the car and be happy!

Thank you sir!

Now, what kind of shop would actually inspect vehicles other than dealership.

Never had to do this before.
