Does anyone know exactly where this part is located on a 98 A6? If you can post a pic that would be great!

 

Hi Kev,

In December, in an attempt to help you I posted a pic of what I thought is the ICM. But that was a different part, and I apologize for the confusion.

Since nobody deemed necessary to help you, I took a pic today of the ICM. If your '98 is a 2.8L, then I bet the ICM should be in the same location as on mine.
It is mounted on the firewall, passenger side:
