Thinking of switching from 545i to A6.
Hi all, I'm doing some research for my mom. She has a BMW 545i and is considering going to an 06-08 A6. Anyway, I'm just curious of common problems. Also I know with BMW that their 6 cylinder engines are generally worse on fuel economy than their 8 cylinder engines. As for the Audi which engine would you recommend aiming for? Remember she doesn't care for speed, just cruising. However, I would prefer the engine that is the least problematic and best in all around economy. All advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Most of the time, the V6 is less problematic, just because there is less components to brake and better in all around economy. High performance engine usually have higher maintenance. If you buy a 06 A6, make sure it has all the MMI software updated.

Not to knock BMW as I am a fan of both makes, the A6 is so much nicer inside and out. The BMW has a performance advantage due to RWD setup IMO. However, most of us don't drive these cars at 10/10ths. I am jealous of your mom I would go with the V6 with quattro if it were me spending my money. If I were spending my Mom's money, I would only be satisfied with an all new S6. And if it was your Mom's money, I would only want an R8 black with carbon Fiber blades.
