Default Idle question

My 2001 Audi A6 Quattro, 2.8 began idling a little rough. When the car is being operated on the highway, or around town, it runs fine. When I stop the car begins to idle below 1k and jumps up and down slightly. I was able to have it put on a generic computer which indicated a multiple cylinder misfire on bank 2. I just had the oil and spark plugs changed, but it still acts the same way. I was told that it might be either the camshaft position sensor or the timing chain tensioner. Any ideas?

could also be a dirty throttle body, dirty maf, or a broken vac line... which are all kind of common.

check your plug wires. open the hood, take off the covers and turn off the lights, look for sparks.
could be coils too.

I am betting that it is the coil packs.

Ok.. I found these codes..

P0345 Cam Position Sensor
P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder misfire detected
P0304 Misfire detected Cylinder 4
P0305 Misfire detected Cylinder 5
P0306 Misfire detected Cylinder 6

Also, the MAF, throttle body, and vacuum lines are all clean and functional. I also took the coil pack off and there was a small cut in one of the wires. I hope someone can guide me in the right direction here.. I really hope it's not the Chain Tensioner.

..Also I was told by an audi mechanic that running conventional oil may cause a sludge build-up on the tensioner, which is why it doesn't idle normal and acts fine at higher RPMs. It was suggested that I change the oil to full synthetic, which I intend to do today.

Thanks in advance for your help

yea, those are the same codes my car threw pretty much but in a different cylinder order of course... oh yea, and don't run conventional oil... seems like a bad idea for our cars... 5w30 or 0w40 should do the trick. im not sure what area you're from but if you're in MD, go to Pro-Imports in Rockville or Induktion Motorsports in Columbia and they should be good options.

I live in Colorado.. actually the coldest spot in the nation. It got forty below last winter, good thing I have a garage. So anyway I put synthetic oil and ordered NGK plugs. It's already idling better. It's still not 100% though. So what, exactly, did you do when your car gave you these codes?? Thanks for the help CrazyEights..
