Ok I went ahead and updated the navi first, that went ok no problems. I tried to update using the ab disc and it keeps giving a download error that it couldn't find the files. I will try burning the ISO's to a different disc to see if that helps.

4610 is a repair kit to all the previous updates. So just skip 3360 and run 4610 CD1(Bluetooth)&CD2(Components). You don't need 3360 because 4610 has everything that 3360 and fixes the bugs it had, therefore they called it the repair kit. Just run the disc, I did. Everything turn out fine.

I just tried putting in disc 1 in, but it keep getting the error Download Error directory not found, Metainfo cannot be analyzed. I tried to burn the Iso to a Sony cdr and a verbatim cdr but am still having the same issue. After I burn the cd in windows will I be able to see the files on the disc in windows, because I can't.

UPDATE - I got some TDK CD-R's from office depot and used Magic ISO to burn the images. I tried the AB Disc and it read it, so it looks like I got it to work. I am excited to get this updated and to install the AMI! I will post my results

Default 11.9.0 version as well

So glad to see that "jattsingh" had the same 11.9.0 version I have on my '06 A6 and then read the follow-up by "eazy211187" that there should be no problems.

The two questions I have are:
--I do not have navigation right now, but that should not stop me to update to the 46.1.0, right?

--If I do not have any issues with the current OS, how much difference or improvements will I see with the update? (Any improvements I just NEED to have? LOL?)

Oh and "Jattsingh," -- Look forward to hearing how you like the update and what you find better.
We just got into the world of Audi about 6 weeks ago and love the car and look forward to doing these kinds of things to make it even better. So thank you for being a part of the forum so others can read what you've gone through that may help us out when we try it as well.

Love the info in this forum.

Drew_Audi, is your MMI a MMI Basic Or MMI High?(difference is the screen between the instrument cluster. Is it screen only red? or does it have a color screen?).

Ok, so I tried today to update the MMI starting with the AB disc. When I click update it starts reading the CD (I can hear the CD player making "reading" noises). However the "reading" noises stop and it stays stuck on "Reading Meta Information". I waited and waited but it never goes past this screen. I am able to cancel out at this point.

I tried putting in disc 1 instead and I am still getting a error reading metainfo. I have tried burning them every since way with three different CDRs, three different cd burning programs, and I tried unzipping them again and still I am having this issue. I decided to go ahead and just order the MMI update CD's from genuine audi parts and will try with those when I get them.

I did read here http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2784667 that this user kept having the same issue and he tried his friends CD changer instead and then it worked. I am hoping I don't have to go this route and add an additional expense to this project...

jattsingh when its showing Reading Meta Information and the CD stop spin you have to wait. It take time 20mins, 30mins then it reboots itself and then ask to install new updates.

jattsingh, what are using to burn the disk? what software? You know the file is ISO already. Burn it as data.

To make it simple skip 4F0-906-961-AB disk and go straight to 4F0-998-961(DISC 1)
4F0-998-961 (DISC 2)
These are the repair kit disk that have all the updates and fixes of 4F0-906-961-AB included.
This will not take 20mins, this will take a couple of hours.

But suit yourself. Everyone else was successful. And some just skip 4F0-906-961-AB disk like me too. And it work and jamming on AMI.

I will try it again and Wait to see if it works.

I used infrarecorder and magiciso. Magic ISo was able to write the AB disc, but I am having issues with the disc1,2 not even being recognized. I selecting to burn the ISO image.

I will try again and hopefully it will work this time.

Also for anyone else's information my local Audi dealer said the charge for them to update the Mmi would be $350 to $600 and they would need the car all day... What a ripoff
