It must be basic because I've only seen it in red. Of course the wife has "my car" right now and I can't run out to make sure I'm not crazy. (Think I've made her an Audi lover as well.)
But I've only seen the screen in the instrument area red. (The main screen does has a few other colors besides red.)

BTW-- jattsingh, just want to let ya know, I promise not to try and hijack ur thread ... the conversation you and Eazy are having has made me want to update my MMI as well.

So good luck with your install -- hope it's successful.

Drew_Audi, thanks, no problem at all - I hope you are able to update the MMI with ease. Unfortunately for me I cannot seem to get the discs to be recognized by the system. I insert the AB disc and it says Reading Meta Information and it just stays stuck on that. I left the car for 2.5 hours and it just stayed like that.

Hopefully the official discs will work out for me. I ordered from genuine audi parts.com.

Also a big big thank you to Eazy211187 - you have been very helpful and I greatly appreciate it.

No problem, sorry to hear that the disk didn't work out for you.

Drew_Audi, I might have bad news for you, but first let do a check off list.
1) Do you have 6 disc changer in glovebox?
2) Do you NAV?
3) Do you the NAV DVD player in the trunk?
4) What MMI SW version do you?(write up all the info in the SW box)
5) What size of screen do you 6.5" or 7"?

Let me know.

Eazy, just to make sure I'm just looking to update the software to the latest, not looking to do the AMI conversion at this time.
Also as for the Nav, I am considering picking up a unit sometime this summer.

I understand that. I'm just asking 'cause they came with 3 options.
1) MMI Basic(just a single cd player in the glovebox & no Nav)
2) MMI Basic Plus(head unit integrated with the single cd player & Nav CD player both in the glove box)
3) MMI High(6 disc changer in the glovebox & DVD Nav in the trunk)

MMI Basic will need different SW updates there not compatible with MMI High. That's the only reason why I ask.

Looking over your software, your good to go. If you go ahead do the SW now, when you install the Nav make sure you install a version higher then 2005.

Cool, great to know.
Thank you for the insight and I look forward to updating the MMI.

I received the OEM mmi update discs and didnt even need the AB Disc. I put Disc 1 of 4460 in and updated the bluetooth (handyvorb2) first, and then once that was done I put Disc 2 in and it went with no problem at all. It only took about 40 minutes for me and everything was updated. I am going to try the AMI installation today. Has anyone else noticed it is very hard to get the existing CD changer out with the tools? I have been trying for the past 20 minutes and cant seem to get the tools in the right position...

Ok so i finally got the removal tools into the slots, I had to use a lot of force to get them in. How do I take the changer out now? I tried pulling back on the removal tools to see if they were "locked in" and would remove the changer, but the tools just pull out of the slots. I dont see any other place to get a grip to get the changer out. Does anyone have any suggestions?
