Does Audi have a ipod kit for 2006 model? if not from audi does it have any good after market that can be easily installed by an Audi tech. I am not interested in that FM ipod connector and need something that'll connect directly to my Bose system. Thanks in advance

 

The Audi AMI interface can be installed but you will need to upgrade your MMI software to support the module. You can also use the Denison Gateway 500. I installed this in my 2006 and it work great. I think you may also need the MMI software upgrade for the Denison.

 

Can you share the cost for the hardware? I know an Audi tech but not sure if he can install the hardware. Do i need to find an installation tech even if I can buy this Denison online?

The price is about $100 less than when I purchased the unit.

As you can see in the photo, there are a lot of wires cables and parts. The silver unit typically mounts on the outer rear of the glovebox. You can then route the wires for the connections through some strategically placed holes in the top of the glove box and tap into power on the passenger side fuse panel. I did it myself along with updating the MMI. If you don't mind a little do-it-yourself satisfaction and you have a few hours to kill there are pretty good tutorials on line and the guys at Enfig are very helpful.
