I'm concidering a 06 A8 when the lease on my 03 BMW 745 is up.

One of the many peeves with the beemer is with the audio system. The I-drive is impossible, and there is no way to intigrate an Ipod into the audio system without going thru the FM radio (kinda defeats the purpose)

In 2003 there was a kit available from Blitzsafe to connect an Ipod directly into the A8 audio system. I also believe Phatnoise made a similar kit. It was nice because you got true digital sound, and could use the steering wheel controls to work the Ipod.

I have had no luck trying to find out if there is anything available from Audi for the 2006 A8. Also, no info from Blitzsafe or Phatnoise. Any help would be appreciated!!

 

nothing yet for the D3 A8...as it is a MOST fibre-optic based architecture. There is rumor that Dension will have a version of the IceLink for the D3 A8 and the C6 A6 in the summer of 2006. For more details, do a search in audiworld.com (D3 A8 forum) for "ipod" and you'll get lots of answers.

Too bad too....as the A8 is a beautiful car...and can't use any MP3 system in it yet...especially the Phatbox. I have a 2001 A6 and have installed the RNS-E OEM nav headunit with OEM Sirius Tuner, dual MP3 SD cards and lots of other goodies. I feel a bit guilty having more music/electronics capabilities in my 2001 A6.....
