Ipod playing problems - not recognized :-(
2012 A6. Many times the Ipod does not work, unless I unplug it and plug it back in. Ipod has a full charge. When I select Media I get a message that says "The medium does not contain playable files". Any ideas?

I have an A7. Same issue with iPod. I left car with dealer for two days. They said they reset everything but the day I got car back, problem was still there. Also, 'iPhone does not always connect to system. It says 'automatic connection is on,' but itndoesnt connect until i click general settings on phone This problem was also not fixed.
Any thoughts or ideas?

With the older 2g MMI (which I have) they didn't like it if you had an iPod on the connector in the glove box and an iPhone on the bluetooth.
Also how old is your iPod? The older iPods used firewire rather than USB to connect them so that might be worth looking at.

After leaving my A7 at the dealer for a week, they replaced all of my MMI software. According to my service contact, the tech people didn't offer to change to the new software for four days! So - after the software replacement:
iPod: It is almost always recognized now. I've also noticed that when I turn the car on now, the radio keeps the "Presets" setting (before, I had to pick presets every time I started the car). BUT - on occasion, when I turn the car on and the "presets" setting did not stay, then the iPod doesn't work and it again says "Media does not contain readable files." Not sure what that means or why it happens - but I've told the dealer.
iPhone: It always automatically connects now - but only after I disconnected the iPhone Bluetooth audioplayer. Apparently, the bluetooth audioplayer confuses the Bluetooth phone connection. The dealer didn't know about this.
Hope this helps.
