Default Just acquired 02 A6 - Advice needed

Hello all. New member here.

Just acquired a 2002 A6. It belonged to close family, an elderly couple. When purchased, it was driven my the Mr. who got in a number of albeit small fender benders, so there are a a few color consistency issues around the whole perimeter, which is really not a problem. In more recent years the car was driven by caretakers, meaning short distances by mostly run-of-the-mill drivers. As a result, there are issues with the interior trim which I would like to restore if not too pricey. This is now my daily driver with potential for high miles. Current reading is 77k.

I would like some advice or direction on the following:
1. The push buttons for the release of the trunk and fuel door are broken. I can see the light coming through but the push element is not there so in effect they don't work. Where can I find replacements? Would that be an easy diy?
2. The ashtray receptacle is missing. The tray itself is there but the trim is off and if pushed to close it does not reopen. Is there a known issue, or replacing the receptacle will make it function properly?
3. Bluetooth and/or AUX input add-on: is there a preferred part or concept? I want to use it to connect Sirius. I am not a big fan of replacing the head unit, as the system works well and does not impact the aesthetics of the interior.

ANY ideas, suggestions, feedback etc are truly appreciated.

Thank you.

Default Update - another issueb

I did realize that the second button on the driver's door frame is not for the fuel tank door but for the alarm sensors.

I realized that the immobilizer chip for the second key is off. The car starts but dies immediately and the immobilizer light blinks. Any ideas on how to address this?

Also, any direction or pointers on the aux input? I am sure that it has been tackled on this board, but if anyone chimes in it will be of great help.

Thank you.

You can find a lot of parts on Ebay, and also check Shokan Coachworks, Audi parts 1-800-All-Audi they have tons of used Audi parts. Or, www.car-part.com is another place you can check.

To reprogram your key, you either need to get vag-com, or take it to the dealer, or find a friend with vag-com Ross-Tech: Home

Thank you for the valuable info, since everything is new to me at this early stage. In your opinion is there any difference between the chinese knock-offs and the Ross-Tech part? there is a HUGE difference in $ that makes me wonder.
Thx

The cheap Chinese knock-offs don't have nearly the features and functionality the Ross-Tech cable will offer.
If you simply need it to check and clear the check engine light - the cheap OBD2 readers will do. However if you need to dig deeper, change codes, grab sensor readings or help with the key - there is nothing better than a Ross-Tech cable (and Software of course). Unless you have access to the Audi stuff (that are many, many thousand $$$$ worth) - Ross tech is the way to go for the DIY guy.

That's really low mileage for an '02, although it's always more about maintenance. I had a shop install an aux input and an on/off switch activating an FM frequency connection, in the inside left wall of the glove compartment in my '03. I keep a couple of male-to-male 3.5mm audio cables in the glove compartment -a long one and a shorter one, to connect to my phone and Zune players. The job involved pulling the radio, connecting a wire/part, and drilling a couple of spots on that wall. Good luck getting your A6 in shape.
