Default Key stuck in the ignition

Hey

My key seems to be stuck in the ignition and does not want to come out. The car drives ok, shift from P to R to D...but when i shut off the car, the key will not come out. Also, i noticed that the button on the shifter is stuck inside when the car is in Park. What do i do?

I would say the TR (transmission range) switch is malfunctioning keeping you from pulling out the key. Try jiggling the shifter back and forth, and try lightly pulling the button out from the shifter but NOT TOO FAR or it will fall out, pain in the butt to get it back on.

LOL I had this problem with an automatic Audi and came up with a $.76 fix.

It probably isn't going all the way into park becasue something has dropped into the shifter. I found $.76 in mine when I had the problem and once it was removed everything was OK.

search for the origional post if you need more info

Thumbs up Easy fix

Had same problem , I figured transmission gear was off so I drove the car at nice rate of speed using tiptonic. Turn car off key came straight out. No problems since.
