My key won't come out of my 2000 A8 ignition switch. Is there something wrong with my interlock with the transmission? My Owners Manual says that the key cannot be removed unless the transmission is in PARK. I put my trans in PARK, and the key still won't come out. Any suggestions?

 

The thing that caused the problem is chrome button on the shifter ****. The button is sticking and not coming out all the way. Whenever my key is stuck, I just push and release the button again (while the shifter is in PARK), and make sure it pops out all the way. The key will then turn in the ignition switch and I can remove the key.
