Default Key trouble?

How often does anyone change their batteries in there key? because mine stopped working and i dont think its because the battery died, and i think this happend before i just dont remember what to do to get it working again? anyone know how to reprogram it??

Every 18 months for my 05 4.2 with Advanced Key.

ya see , i dont want to buy new batteries and it still dont work, and i cant take it back

i remember when i picked mine up from the dealership from getting a new alternator it wouldnt work and then like a half hour later it worked.

Wink It might just need resetting

I have 04, A6. Here is what my manual says.

You have 30 seconds to do it.
1) press unlock button or lock button once
2) within 30 seconds, lock or unlock the driver's door with master key

I tried twice and it worked. try it and good luck.

ya i figured it out today, i knew it was something like that, i pushed the lock when i was turning the key and it worked
