Default Left Rear Caliper

My left rear caliper is wearing the inside pad down to the metal in two months while the outside isn't wearing hardly at all. Please advise!

The caliper slide pins are frozen from rust. You can replace them or clean the up and grease them or get a new caliper. if you replace them make sure that you also replace the rubber covers and make sure they are seated properly to keep out water.

Thanks but I replaced the caliper once and it's still doing the same thing...what else could be the problem?

After thinking about it, I changed the caliper but left the old slide pins in. I'll do that tomorrow. Thanks!

Good idea. I would remove the caliper and see if the pins slide easily. That is really the only reason for the pad on the side of the piston wearing quickly.

Thanks ManyAudis, I checked the guide pins and the bottom pin was indeed rusted solidly in the housing and took a while to get it out. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and clearing up my problem.

Regards,
Mike

i too am experiencing trouble with my left rear brake. First, it seems that the outer edge of the rotor seems to be waring away while the inside is still fine along with my pads. Second my hand brake dose not go all the way down, and third, there seems to be a humming patter coming from that wheel swell. Could all this be related?

I was told not to use my handbrake until I replace or rebuild my left rear caliper. The handbrake mechanism on the caliper can cause pad wear.

Also, be sure to clean the points on the bracket where the pads hang into the rotor, and add some brake lube to those points and the pins.
